COVID-19  update

Enrollment appointments are IN-PERSON, masks required.

You must attend a Group Orientation meeting AND also come to an individual  in-person appointment to complete your enrollment.

Please read the instructions on this page carefully.

This website is ONLY to be used by care providers, otherwise known as caregivers, of the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program in SANTA CLARA COUNTY.

State law requires that all IHSS providers complete all the enrollment steps and pass a background check before they are eligible to be paid by the IHSS program.

Do not enroll on this website until after the person you will be providing care for has started their application to become a recipient of In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). IHSS can be reached at (408) 792-1600. For instructions about how care recipients apply for IHSS services visit the IHSS Website.

If you want to work as an IHSS care provider (or work more hours) and want help finding IHSS consumers that could hire you, after completing your enrollment you can apply to join our Registry.

Your Enrollment as an IHSS provider will be completed in several steps.

    • Make sure the person you will be taking care of has completed their paperwork to hire you (SOC426a form) and sent it to IHSS.

      • You timesheets will go back retro-actively to the start date entered on the SOC426a form.
    • Wait 3-4 weeks after your appointment before calling to review the status of your case. It may take longer to receive your first timesheet.
    • When you are officially placed on a consumer's case, you will received an SOC2271 form from IHSS with your IHSS Care Provider ID Number. At that time, register for the IHSS Electronic Services Portal to access your online timesheets at www.etimesheets.ihss.ca.gov

If you have additional questions please review the Question and Answer page here:

Question: I cannot find my Social Security Card.
Answer: Visit the Social Security Office and apply for your replacement card. They will provide you with a replacement card within 7 to 14 days. DO NOT schedule an appointment until you have your original Social Security Card.

Question: I already had a background check done for another job – do I need to do it again?
Answer: Yes. Everyone applying to be an IHSS Independent Provider must have a background check done using the forms we provide.

Question: I am starting to work for a second IHSS consumer, do I need to do the enrollment a second time?
Answer: No. An IHSS caregiver or provider only needs to enroll one time to be allowed to be paid by the IHSS program. It does not matter how many IHSS consumers you work for.

Question: It has been over a year since I was paid as an IHSS caregiver, do I need to do the enrollment a second time?
Answer: Please contact the Public Authority Enrollment (408) 350-3252 and leave a message for callback. An Enrollment Specialist can verify whether or not you need to complete the enrollment process again.

    .

If your question is not answered here, call the Public Authority Enrollment department at (408) 350-3252.

    • Leave a message and we will call you back within 24-48 business hours. We can only answer questions about the provider enrollment process.

Visit the full Public Authority Services website at www.pascc.org to learn about The Registry, training, provider medical benefits and other services related to the IHSS program.

For questions about provider payroll or paychecks, timesheets, or to speak with a social worker about authorized hours or to apply to receive IHSS services call the IHSS program at (408) 792-1600.
